Reporter Gene

Reporter genes are used to develop cellular assays that measure activation of gene expression by signaling cascades in response to environmental queues. The reporter genes are comprised of a target promoter fused to an ORF that encodes a reporter protein. Common reporter proteins are fluorescent proteins (e.g. green fluorescent protein) or enzymes that cleave fluorescent or luminescent substrates (luciferase). Blue Sky BioServices can help you develop reporter assays for a variety of targets, such as G Protein-Coupled Receptors and Receptor Tyrosine Kinases.
